Tell Me About Yourself – Intersuce yourself

Why Are You Interested In This University

Why Did You Decide to Major in X؟

6.     How Do You Plan to Contribute to This University؟

7. Where Do You See Yourself In 10 Years؟

8. What Would You Want to Change About Your High School or university ؟

9. Whom Do You Most Admire؟

10.  What Is Your Favorite Book؟

11.  Why Do You Want to Be Part of a College؟

12.  What Do You Do for Fun؟

13.  Tell Me About An problem You’ve Faced and How Did You Get Through It؟

14.  What Makes You Unique؟

What Are Your Academic Strengths؟

What Are Your Academic Weaknesses? How Have You Addressed Them؟

My proposed study in rehabilitation medicine will allow me to contribute to addressing this development challenge by equipping me with the necessary skills and knowledge to support and rehabilitate people with disabilities. Upon returning to Syria, I plan to work with hospitals or NGOs to provide support and rehabilitation services to people with disabilities.
  8. The war in Syria has resulted in a significant increase in the number of women and children who are victims of gender-based violence. My proposed study in gender studies will allow me to contribute to addressing this development challenge by gaining a better understanding of the causes and consequences of gender-based violence and learn how to work towards a lasting solution. Upon returning to Syria, I plan to work with NGOs or government agencies to help improve the lives of women and children who are victims of gender-based violence.
  9. My proposed study in engineering has a direct relevance to the ongoing reconstruction efforts in Syria. After over a decade of conflict, my country is in dire need of rebuilding its infrastructure, including housing, roads, bridges, and other essential facilities. As an engineer, I believe that I can play a critical role in helping to address this challenge and contribute to the development of my country.
  10. One of the key areas that I am interested in studying is sustainable building design and construction methods. Given the limited resources and funding available for reconstruction, it is essential that we build structures that are durable, energy-efficient, and sustainable. By learning about the latest advancements in building materials, construction techniques, and engineering design, I believe that I can help to create structures that are not only functional but also environmentally responsible.
  11. Furthermore, my study of engineering will also equip me with the skills and knowledge necessary to address the energy crisis in Syria. Many areas of the country lack access to reliable electricity, and this is a major impediment to economic growth and development. By studying renewable energy systems and power generation technologies, I believe that I can contribute to finding solutions that will help to address this challenge and support sustainable development.

The proposed study of engineering at your university has a global relevance, as the challenges faced by Syria are faced by many other countries around the world. By studying these issues and finding innovative solutions, I believe that I can contribute to addressing these challenges on a global scale.

In addition, I am also interested in studying disaster relief and emergency response. The conflict in Syria has resulted in widespread destruction, and the country is in need of effective and efficient disaster relief and emergency response systems. By studying engineering solutions that can support disaster relief and response efforts, I believe that I can help to save lives and support the recovery of communities in times of crisis.

Finally, I believe that my study of engineering will also have a significant impact on the local level, as I plan to apply the knowledge and skills I gain to benefit my community and my country. By working with local organizations and government agencies, I believe that I can help to address the specific needs of my community and contribute to the development and well-being of my country.

What challenges would you expect to encounter while studying in a foreign country, and how could you prepare for these challenges?

  1. One of the main challenges I expect to encounter while studying in a foreign country is the language barrier. As a student from Syria, my primary language is Arabic and although I am Good at English, it may not be my first language. To prepare for this challenge, I plan to take language classes before I arrive in this country and continue to practice speaking and listening in English during my studies.
  2. Another challenge I expect to encounter is cultural differences. Coming from a war-torn country, I may have different cultural customs and values. I will prepare for this challenge by researching the culture and customs of this country, and by being open-minded and respectful of the differences.
  3. I expect to face some challenges in terms of adapting to the new academic system and expectations, as the education system in this country may be different from the one in Syria. To prepare for this, I will research the academic policies and requirements of the university, and I will reach out to the professors and academic advisors for guidance.
  4. I may face challenges in terms of access to food and other necessities due to dietary restrictions and cultural differences. To prepare for this, I will research options for halal food and familiarize myself with the local supermarkets and shops that carry items that I am used to.
  5. I may also face challenges in terms of transportation and navigating the new city. To prepare for this, I will research the transportation options available, such as buses and trains, and familiarize myself with the city’s layout and landmarks.
  6. I may face challenges in terms of healthcare, as the healthcare system in this country may be different from the one in Syria. To prepare for this, I will research the healthcare options available, such as hospitals and clinics, and familiarize myself with the process of accessing healthcare services.
  7. Financially, studying abroad can be a significant challenge. I will have to cover the costs of tuition, accommodation, and living expenses. To prepare for this challenge, as well as budgeting and saving money before my departure.  If you not applying for a scholarship. I will also look into work opportunities that will allow me to work and study at the same time, as many students in this country are able to do so through the laws that permit it. This way, I will not only be able to cover my expenses but also gain valuable work experience. Homesickness is also a common challenge for international students. I will prepare for this by staying in touch with my family and friends through social media and video calls. I will also make an effort to meet new people and make friends, as well as get involved in extracurricular activities to make myself feel more at home.
