LONG-TERM VISA INFORMATIONS AND CONDITION LIST FOR STUDENTS

1. What are the required documents?
o Original, intact and valid Passport
o Correct, duly completed and signed residence permit application form, along with appendix and
report
o 1 recent coloured passport photo with a light coloured background, frontal view (3,5 cm x 4,5
cm) – not older than 3 months
o Photocopy of the passport and – if available – previous visas (Schengen, USA, UK, Canada)
o For minor applicants only (under 18): parental consent to travel & stay in Hungary issued by a
notary public translated into English and Signed by both Parents (personal presence of one
parent is mandatory at the VISA interview)
o Certificate of admission (Letter of Acceptance) from the Hungarian educational institution
o For scholarship holders: Letter of Award from the granting Foundation / Institution
o Official proof of tuition fee payment (bank transfer) – (Not required from Scholarship holders)
o Official school certificate(s) and transcript(s) translated into English (Baccalaureate and
BA/BsC/MA/MsC/PhD)
o Language certificate in proof of language proficiency examination OR an official diploma in
proof of studies in a foreign language
o Statement of the applicant’s own bank account (over the last 3 months), stamped and signed by
two bank officials and proof of the money’s origin on it OR Parental warranty and statement of
the parent’s bank account (over the last 3 months), stamped and signed by two bank officials
and proof of the money’s origin on it
o Full coverage health insurance for the whole planned stay in Hungary
o Family Civil Status, translated into English – not older than 3 months
o Family book, translated into English – not older than 3 months
o Other evidence: Upon the Consul’s and/or the competent authority’s decision, Applicants may
be asked to provide additional documents
All papers presented in Arabic should be accompanied by an official translation into English
All requested evidence must be produced in original and photocopy.
A Non-Refundable Visa Fee of USD 121 is to be paid in US Dollars in Cash upon submitting
the application (the fee might change upon depending on the exchange rate)
Holders of scholarships granted by the Hungarian Government are not required to pay the Visa
fee
Without ALL the required documents listed below, the application will NOT be accepted; the
applicant will have to book a new appointment upon availability.

2. Other important information
o The processing of the application will be managed by the regional directorate of the National
Directorate-General for Aliens Policing (hereinafter: NDGAP) in Hungary. The Consular
Section can not give any information about the duration of the process.
o Handing in a complete set of documentation does not guarantee a positive decision of the
application.
o If the application for the residence permit was submitted by the student at a foreign mission,
the visa entitling him/her to receive the residence permit will be issued by the consular officer.
Please note that if the student does not enter Hungary within 3 months from the issuance of the
residence permit and does not begin the authorized stay, the authorized residence permit
becomes invalid and his/her right to entry and stay ceases.
o The residence permit document for the purpose of studies is delivered by post to the address of
the educational institution.
